School Observation

Every child thrives in a supportive learning environment, but some may experience challenges that affect their academic performance, social interactions, or classroom behavior. Through collaboration with teachers, school staff, and parents, we identify strengths, challenges, and practical strategies to help students reach their full potential. School Observation is normally combines with assessments.

Therapy scenarios

Helping a Child with ADHD Succeed in School

Ethan, a bright 8-year-old, was struggling with staying on task and following class routines. His parents noticed that homework was always incomplete, and teachers reported disruptive behaviors and forgetfulness.

Through a School Observation, we identified:

  • Difficulty transitioning between activities – Ethan needed clear visual cues and structured routines.
  • Struggles with impulse control – He required breaks and movement-based activities to stay engaged.
  • Challenges with social interactions – We introduced social scripts and strategies to help him interact more effectively with classmates.

With personalized classroom accommodations, behavior strategies, and a collaborative plan between parents and teachers, Ethan’s focus improved, his meltdowns decreased, and he became more engaged in learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of a School Observation?

A School Observation helps parents and educators gain a deeper understanding of a child’s learning, behavior, and social interactions in a real-world classroom setting. It allows specialists to identify strengths, challenges, and necessary support strategies to help the child succeed academically and socially.

Will my child know they are being observed?

We aim to keep the observation as natural and unobtrusive as possible so the child remains comfortable. Our specialists blend into the classroom setting and observe discreetly without disrupting the child’s routine.

How is feedback shared after the observation?

Parents receive a detailed written report outlining key observations, strengths, challenges, and recommended strategies for home and school. A feedback session is scheduled to discuss findings and explore next steps, including classroom accommodations or therapy support.

Can the school request an observation?

Yes! Schools may refer students for observations to better understand learning needs and provide targeted support. We collaborate closely with educators to ensure recommendations align with school expectations and resources.
