Lavender Chan
Lavender is an educational psychologist with years of experience in supporting children, teenagers, and families across diverse educational settings. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and has extensive experience supporting multilingual families. As a certified mindfulness program instructor, she is dedicated to empowering children and parents through mindfulness-based approaches, helping them cope with difficulties using their inner strengths and wisdom.
Lavender is experienced in providing comprehensive psychoeducational assessments and evidence-based interventions for children with a wide range of learning and developmental needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties, and emotional challenges. She adopts a person-centered and integrative approach in psychological counseling, drawing from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), family therapy and motivational interviewing to meet the diverse needs of children and their families. Her warm and collaborative style empowers children to develop their strengths and unlock their potential.
Lavender specializes in mindfulness-based interventions. She received School Mindfulness Lead training in the UK and is a certified teacher of the .b Foundations program and Paws b curriculum of the UK-based Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP). She has delivered well-received mindfulness workshops for parents, children, and education professionals, aiming to nurture emotional regulation and reduce stress.
In addition to her clinical work, Lavender has contributed to the academic field as a mentor for trainees from the educational psychology master’s programs at the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her previous roles include working in the Education Bureau, where she was part of the Student Suicide and School Crisis Management Group and helped develop a suicide prevention program.
As a registered Educational Psychologist with the Hong Kong Association of Educational Psychologists, Lavender is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. She believes that every child has unique strengths and is dedicated to helping them shine through compassionate and individualized support.
