Speech and Language Therapist

Smyra Wong

Smyra is a Speech Therapist holding a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The University of Hong Kong and a Master of Arts in Psychology (Dean’s List) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. With over seven years of professional clinical experience across pediatric and geriatric settings, she specializes in delivering systematic speech, language, social communication, and feeding assessments and interventions for individuals with diverse neurodevelopmental and physical profiles.

In her pediatric practice, Smyra seamlessly integrates internationally recognized, evidence-based modalities into her clinical workflows. To support children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), developmental delays, physical disabilities, and Chinese dyslexia, she implements highly structured frameworks including the Hanen More Than WordsĀ® program for parent-mediated early intervention, the PEERSĀ® Adolescent Social Skills Program, and LEGOĀ®-based therapy. Furthermore, she designs comprehensive neuromotor and articulatory interventions by incorporating advanced specialized techniques, such as the Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRIĀ®), PROMPT, Beckman Oral Motor Assessment & Intervention, and TalkToolsĀ® Oral Placement Therapy.

Her extensive background in the On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services (OPRS), Special Child Care Centres (SCCC), and mainstream schools enables her to drive impactful classroom integration and empower multidisciplinary teams, special child care workers, and caregivers through targeted consultations and capacity building.

Beyond pediatric intervention, Smyra possesses robust clinical expertise in adult speech therapy and geriatric rehabilitation within private residential care settings. As a certified practitioner of The Biber ProtocolĀ®, she utilizes evidence-based neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) alongside advanced behavioral strategies to manage and rehabilitate complex dysphagia and swallowing disorders.

Bridging the disciplines of speech sciences and psychology, Smyra grounds her practice in person-centered, evidence-based care. She leverages her unique dual-academic background and precision clinical decision-making to optimize functional outcomes, foster communication autonomy, and meaningfully elevate the quality of life for clients and their families.
