Educational Psychologist
Winkie Lai
Ms. Winkie received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Psychology) from the University of Hong Kong, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma of Education (English – Secondary) and a Master of Educational and Child Psychology at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
She is an Associate Fellow of the Division of Educational Psychology at The Hong Kong Psychological Society and an Accredited Educational Psychologist recognized by the Hong Kong Association of Educational Psychologists (Department of Health).
With over a decade of experience, Ms. Winkie has worked with children from preschool to high school across various settings, including international schools, NGOs, and the Education Bureau. She specializes in conducting psychoeducational assessments, providing psychotherapy, and facilitating group and individual interventions, as well as parent and teacher consultations.
Ms. Winkie has effectively addressed challenges such as giftedness, school refusal, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Difficulties, ADHD, selective mutism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), anxiety, depression, and developmental delays.
In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Winkie has a strong focus on parent coaching, utilizing skills such as active listening, asking open-ended questions, setting boundaries, and positive reinforcement to empower parents and strengthen family dynamics.
Ms. Winkie employs a range of therapeutic approaches, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and mindfulness. She is also a certified mindfulness coach in the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) and an AutPlay®️ Therapy provider.
