ABOUT US

Since 2013, Sprout in Motion, a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical psychologists, educational psychologists, mental health counselors, speech therapists, art therapists, occupational therapists, ABA therapists, and other specialists with extensive experience in autism spectrum disorders (ASD), ADHD/ADD, and mood disorders, has been supporting over 4,000 students and 100 schools in the Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area.

Our individual and group therapies include applied behavior analysis training (ABA), social thinking, mental health counseling, play therapy, art therapy, executive function coaching, and mindfulness training. Our parenting groups use the Incredible Years Program.

We are the first multidisciplinary child development center that provides bilingual, through-trained support for your child, from toddlers to adolescents. Our new ABA team uniquely supports young children with ASD using evidence-based programs. Each child who is enrolled in the program has priority access to a team of experienced speech therapists, child psychologists, and occupational therapists. Our goal is to maximize the golden period of a child with ASD so that he has the best chance to transition to mainstream primary international schools and thrive in an inclusive environment.

Services

Psychoeducational assessment has gained widespread acceptance as an important tool in recent years. This comprehensive process examines a student's cognitive, learning, emotional, and social development.

The goal is to support the child's growth, not to label or criticize. Parental involvement is crucial throughout the assessment.

The report provides insights that allow parents and teachers to offer tailored assistance. This collaborative approach empowers them to foster the student's overall development and success.

Rather than categorizing the child, psychoeducational assessment promotes a deeper understanding of their strengths, challenges, and optimal learning environment.

Prioritizing mental health in children and adolescents is of utmost importance. A strong emotional and psychological foundation is crucial for healthy development.

By nurturing mental health, we equip young people with the tools to navigate challenges and build resilience. This enables them to communicate emotions effectively, foster positive relationships, and reduce behavioral difficulties.

Embracing mental health as an essential aspect of children's lives empowers them to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling, balanced lives now and in the future.

Recognizing the significance of mental health is about empowering the next generation with the resources and support they need to thrive.

Speech and language therapy uses evidence-based approaches to improve skills based on individual needs. Intervention can benefit children struggling with age-appropriate communication, helping them access the curriculum and build relationships.

As children progress through school, developing literacy is essential for academic success. Therapy employs methods to empower children with strategies and visual aids that bridge learning gaps.

Therapists engage each child uniquely through motivating activities to facilitate effective communication. They also provide parents with practical strategies for supporting communication at home.

For those with speech fluency challenges, therapists can improve fluency and address associated anxiety.

By addressing speech, language, and literacy needs, therapy equips children with the skills to thrive academically, socially, and communicatively.

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapists assess and treat children with delays or difficulties affecting their ability to independently perform everyday activities. This therapy helps develop fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, attention, and overall independence.

The service aids parents in understanding their children and offers intervention strategies for home and school to overcome challenges. It can include parent meetings, child assessments, intervention sessions at the center, school or home interventions, and parent feedback.

We provide individualized behavior therapy for children with ASD and ADHD, led by trilingual BCBA therapists. ABA uses evidence-based principles like positive reinforcement to impact behavior and develop core skills for independence and success.

School-based ABA supports preschool transitions to mainstream primary school. Programs are designed by BCBAs who assess each child's needs to create tailored treatment plans. We also train shadow teachers to enhance learning opportunities in schools.

Art Therapy

Art therapy uses creative expression, like drawing and sculpture, to help children communicate emotions and experiences. It provides a safe, supportive environment to explore feelings and build trust with the therapist. This approach enhances self-awareness, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills, aiding in stress, anxiety, and trauma processing. Art therapy fosters creativity, self-esteem, confidence, and social skills in children.

Executive Function Coaching helps children develop essential skills like planning, organization, time management, and self-control, which are crucial for completing everyday tasks and achieving goals. These skills work together like an air traffic controller in the brain, coordinating attention, task initiation, and more. While all children need support to develop these skills, some may require a more personalized approach. Interested in a unique method to enhance your child's executive function skills?

Strong-willed children can be challenging when young, but with sensitive parenting, they can grow into self-motivated and resilient teens and adults who resist peer pressure and often become leaders. Instead of punishing difficult behaviors, try Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Developed by Dr. Sheila Eyberg, PCIT is a short-term, evidence-based program designed for families with children aged 2-7 years. It focuses on improving parent-child interactions and managing behavior through weekly, hour-long sessions over about four months. PCIT helps develop positive parenting strategies, reduce behavioral problems, and improve family communication, leading to better self-esteem, social skills, and calmer, more effective interactions for both children and parents.
