ABA Therapy
We provide intensive individualized behavior therapy for children with ASD and ADHD. Our team of trilingual BCBA therapists is committed to delivering the results that your child deserves in their early years.
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the application of behavioral principles such as positive reinforcement, shaping, prompting, and task analysis. These ABA procedures are evidence-based and founded on scientific research.
The goal of ABA is to have a impact on behavior that is socially significant and important to the family, significant others, and the community in general, and help each child work on core skills that will help them become more independent and successful in the short term, as well as in the future. ABA is the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with Autism and other special education needs.
School-based ABA therapy supports preschool children to transition to mainstream primary school. By utilizing our ABA supervisor’s expertise, parents and teachers can collaborate more effectively by conducting functional behavior analysis, with the aim of a successful transition.
At Sprout in Motion, each ABA program is designed and overseen by qualified and trained Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). The BCBA begins by conducting a detailed assessment of each child’s interests, skills, needs, and family situation, which are used to write specific treatment goals and develop an individualized treatment plan.
We also provide training for shadow teachers to equip them to provide more opportunities for children to learn in the school environment.
What challenges are the focus of ABA Therapy?
ABA therapists work with children to improve:
Communication and language abilities
Self-care and life skills
Play and leisure skills
Motor skills
Adaptive skills
Learning skills
Social skills
How does ABA Therapy work in a variety of formats and settings?
1:1 ABA Treatment
1:1 ABA treatment is designed to increase communication, play, self-care, social, motor and adaptive skills. We build on each child’s interests and strengths using both structured and natural opportunities to improve their essential skills. During the intervention period, clinical data will be recorded in time, teaching strategies will be adjusted to promote the child's core skills, and progress reports will be provided regularly.
To ensure the environment where services are delivered best meets the needs of each child and family we serve, our 1:1 treatment is available in a variety of settings including:
Home
Clinic/centre
Community
Kindergarten/school
Based on the child's assessment, we provide the optimal frequency of ABA treatment (e.g. 4 to 20 hours per week) and work with Sprout's multidisciplinary team, including speech and occupational therapists, to ensure that the child's skill development is more efficient. Sessions are scheduled to fit the needs, preferences, and availability of each child and family.
School Readiness Groups
School readiness group is an important component of your child’s ABA treatment. Our group programs prepare children to learn more effectively in the classroom in preparation for their learning in the mainstream school environment.
The groups are conducted in our comfortable setting where children with special education needs can develop and practice their school readiness skills with peers on a regular basis.
Social skills groups focus on:
Group instruction
Socialization in natural play, interaction & collaborative environments
Following group instructions
Appropriate social behaviors in a group setting
Positive peer interactions
Adapting to mainstream kindergarten or school rules
Transitioning from kindergarten to primary school
School Observation & Consultation
For pre-school and school-age children with behavioral challenges or learning difficulties in mainstream settings, we provide clinical assessment and intervention consultation, as well as support and collaboration with classroom teachers and other professionals to help children better access the school curriculum and mainstream inclusion.
